Christine Firkin:
Writer for the Stage

Christine first started writing plays as part of a teaching program. Whilst working as a teacher of Performing Arts in schools for the Department of Education Christine wrote and produced whole school performances annually.

These plays were required to be in particular forms and on particular themes to suit the school environment and planning in other subject areas. Some favourites include Alice in Academia that focussed on the origins of democracy and a performance for the 100th anniversay of Anzac Day.

Since then Christine has honed her skills in such courses as the Writing for Stage- Consenting Adults course at the Arcola Theatre, London.

The Roads I Didn't Take was written in 2017 for Christine to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2021 her newest play See You Later Mum, with songs by Kay Proudlove, will premier at the Adleaide Fringe before travelling to Edinburgh.
